Field Hockey's Fiest and van Leeuwen Earn MPSF Player of the Week Laurels

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - University of Delaware field hockey midfielder Kate Fiest and back Linde van Leeuwen earned the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's weekly awards for the week of September 22.

Fiest recorded four points across the weekend against two ranked teams on a goal and two assists for Delaware, including her first goal of the season. In the Blue Hens' game against #4 Wake Forest, she inserted a penalty corner leading to a goal to tie the game in the second quarter. Against No. 15 Old Dominion, Fiest again inserted a corner leading to a score and netted her first tally of the season.

van Leeuwen played stellar defense in the back third for Delaware across its two games this weekend against ranked opponents. She scored a goal on a penalty corner against #4 Wake Forest for her second goal across her last two games and helped UD hold #15 Old Dominion to just one goal over the final 47 minutes, with the only score coming on a penalty stroke. van Leeuwen recorded her first defensive save of the season, thwarting a Monarch's opportunity in the second quarter.

Both won their second-career MPSF weekly awards, with Fiest doing so after picking up an identical stat line of one goal and two assists in September 2025.
