Men’s Soccer Opens Summit League Play with a Tie at Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team opened Summit League play with a 3-3 draw at Omaha. Delaware's record is now 5-2-4 overall.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Frederik Flaskager, Sean Smith, and Colin Kelly all scored goals.
- Rich Monath had two assists, and Freddy Jeffreys recorded one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Omaha scored first in the 35th minute.
- Flaskager evened the score with a long-range goal in the 41st minute.
- Omaha scored 91 seconds into the second half to retake the lead.
- Delaware immediately answered. After a free kick, Kelly scored to tie the game at 2-2. A minute later, following a corner kick, Smith found the back of the net to give UD a 3-2 lead.
- The Mavericks tied the game on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
GAME NOTES
- Flaskager's goal was his eighth of the season. He has four goals over his last two games. This marks the second time this season he has scored in consecutive games, as he previously had a three-game goal streak from Sept. 4-Sept. 12.
- Kelly has also scored in back-to-back games after he scored his first career goal in his last game played against LIU on Sept. 18.
- Smith has also scored in consecutive games after he scored against George Washington on Sept. 22.
- Monath has recorded two assists in consecutive games. He is the first Delaware player since at least 2005 to have at least two assists in a conference-opening game.
- Jeffreys has recorded at least one assist in four consecutive games. He is the first Delaware player to record an assist in four straight games since Jan Schroeder in 2024.
- Delaware has scored multiple goals in seven straight games for the first time since 2024 and has scored at least three goals in four straight games for the first time since 2013.
The men's soccer program returns home to host non-conference Lehigh on September 29. Kick off is at 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on The Summit League Network.
