Men's Soccer Explodes in Win Over George Washington

NEWARK, Del.– The University of Delaware men's soccer team beat George Washington 6-1 at Grant Stadium on Tuesday night.
With the win, the Fightin' Blue Hens overall record becomes 5-2-3 on the season.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Frederik Flaskager recorded the Hens' first hat trick of the season.
- Freddy Jeffreys scored his fourth goal of the season off of a penalty kick to put Delaware on the board.
- Sean Smith posted his second-career goal off of an assists from Edwin Flores.
- Thaddeus Glasser earned his first-career goal in the 79th minute of play.
- Eric Widrick recorded one save in his 10th start for the Blue Hens.
- Braeden Sorensen made his first appearance for Delaware with 11 minutes left in the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- George Washington struck first in the fifth minute of play before remaining scoreless for the remainder of the match.
- Jeffreys tied the game up at one with a penalty kick goal in the 14th minute.
- Flaskager scored two-consecutive first-half goals in under two minutes. The first was assisted by Rich Monath and Jeffreys, and the second was from Jeffreys and Liam Penny.
- Smith extended Delaware's lead in the second half with a goal in the 67th minute of play off of a corner kick from Flores.
- Flaskager recorded his third goal of the game with 18 minutes left in the match, which was assisted by Monath.
- Glasser found the back of the net in the 79th minute of the match for the first of his career.
GAME NOTES
- Flaskager scored two goals in under two minutes. His second-half goal made for The Summit League and the Hens' first hat trick of the season.
- UD's six goals is the most goals they have scored in a game this season.
- Six Blue Hens have scored their first-career goal this season.
- Delaware remains undefeated at home in its last 13 matches at Grant (12-0-1).
