NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball defeated Jacksonville State in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-18) to start Conference USA play 2-0. Delaware improved to 7-5 on the season and is 5-1 at home.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Kennedi Inman had 34 assists, six digs, three aces, and two kills.
Anna Logan Gillens capped off a big weekend with a match-high 12 kills and hit .391.
Thalia Yancey had 10 kills and six digs while hitting .368.
Asia Murray had nine kills on a .500 hitting percentage with three blocks.
Morgan Campbell had seven kills and hit .462.
Kristyn Membreno and Jayda Gray each had three aces and four digs.
Emily Zgonc recorded seven digs.
Taylor Holly recorded seven digs and picked up her first career kill.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST SET

Delaware had its most efficient hitting set of the season, tallying 14 kills on zero errors for a .636 hitting percentage.
After the score was tied at 5-5, Yancey had a stretch of two kills and a block with Campbell to give Delaware the lead. Delaware extended its lead to 13-7, 17-10, and 23-13. Another kill and an ace by Yancey, along with a kill by Campbell helped seal the set at 25-15.
Campbell and Yancey each had four kills and Inman had 12 assists.

SECOND SET

Delaware never trailed in the second set. The score was last tied at 10-10, but Delaware scored eight of the next nine points to go up 18-11. Inman had two aces, while Membreno added another.
JSU chipped away to cut the Delaware lead to five but Gillens ended the set with a kill to put Delaware up 2-0.
Inman had 14 assists in the set. Gillens had five kills and hit .444, while Murray had four kills on six attempts.

THIRD SET

Delaware used a 4-0 run to take a 10-9 lead, as Yancey had a pair of kills and Jayda Redd had two aces. A kill by Campbell and two by Gillens extended the lead to 14-10.
A 5-0 scoring run highlighted by two kills from Gillens and two aces from Membreno put Delaware up 19-12. Later on, Gray recorded back-to-back aces to give Delaware a 24-16 lead before Yancey sealed the win with a kill.
Gillens had five kills in the set. Delaware had seven total aces, with Gray, Membreno, and Redd all recording a pair.

MATCH NOTES

This is the third time in five seasons that Delaware has begun conference play 2-0, also done in 2024 and 2022 while members of the CAA.
Delaware recorded season bests in hitting percentage at .378 and aces with 13. UD last had 13 aces in a match on Sept. 6, 2025 against Hampton (14).
Delaware's .378 hitting percentage is its best since hitting .415 against Campbell on Sept. 21, 2024.
Delaware's 13 aces are the most by a CUSA team in a three-set match this season.
Inman and Gillens each had big weekends to begin conference play. Inman averaged 12.00 assists per set and 3.14 digs per set, while Gillens had 4.57 kills per set while hitting .288.
Yancey and Murray also had solid weekends, as Yancey hit .309 with 3.29 kills per set and Murray hit .352 with 2.43 kills per set.
